During the molding process of oriented strand board (OSB), it is essential to carefully arrange the mixed glue particleboard in such a way that the upper and lower surfaces align with the direction of its fiber, while the core layer particleboard is horizontally arranged. This meticulous arrangement results in the formation of a three-layer structural board embryo, which serves as the foundation for creating high-quality OSB through hot pressing.
The specific shape and dimensions required for this type of particleboard call for a relatively large length and width, with a slightly thicker thickness compared to ordinary particleboard. To achieve directional paving during production, two primary methods are employed: mechanical orientation and electrostatic orientation. Mechanical orientation is well-suited for large shavings oriented paving, whereas electrostatic orientation is more suitable for small shavings oriented paving.
One notable advantage of utilizing directional paving techniques in manufacturing OSB lies in its ability to imbue the resulting boards with high strength characteristics in specific directions. As a result, OSB often serves as an excellent alternative to plywood when it comes to fulfilling structural material requirements due to its exceptional strength properties.
