In the first quarter of 2025, Vietnam's wood and forestry exports amounted to nearly 4 billion US dollars. The industry continues to proactively adapt to market demand and strive for sustainable development.

Realize market diversification
According to a report by the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the export value of wood and wood products reached approximately 1.5 billion US dollars in March 2025, driving the total export value of wood and wood products to 3.95 billion US dollars in the first quarter of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 11.6%.
The United States is the * * export market for Vietnamese timber and wood products, with a market share of 53.1%. Japan and China rank second and third respectively, with market share of 13.2% and 10.6%.
It is expected that the global political and economic situation will continue to undergo profound, complex, and ever-changing changes in 2025, affecting domestic and international commodity markets. Although preliminary results have been achieved, in order to achieve the annual export target, companies need to take breakthrough measures and make greater efforts.
Nguyen Thanh Lan, CEO of Vietnam Linyue Joint Stock Company, stated that domestic enterprises have been promoting market diversification for many years, including markets such as the UK, EU, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. At the same time, there is a tendency to expand into the Middle East market.

Actively adapting and moving towards sustainable development
In recent years, Vietnam's wood processing industry has established a solid position on the global trade map, benefiting not only from impressive export volumes but also from strong and sustainable development momentum.
The goal of the forestry and forest protection department is to achieve an export value of 18 billion US dollars for timber and forest products by 2025, and 25 billion US dollars by 2030.
At present, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has issued relevant documents to ensure compliance with international regulations on wood, wood products, and non wood forest products that combine green growth, low emissions, and environmental protection.
In addition, the Vietnamese timber industry has been undergoing quality standardization to meet international standards such as the US Lacey Act, Australia's Prohibition of Illegal Logging Act, Japan's Clean Timber Act, South Korea's Sustainable Timber Use Act, and the EU's Zero Deforestation Act.
These efforts will contribute to the development of the timber and forestry industries, as well as to reducing emissions and protecting the environment.
